Michigan, Upper Peninsula, July 2, 2012

Munising, Mi., sand beach on Lake Superior

Horseshoe Falls

By the shores of Gitchie Goomie...

Lookout point named Miner's Castle

A pontoon boat rental

Beautiful clear waters of Lake Superior

Grand Island Lighthouse, circa 1858

The little town of Munising, waiting for the fireworks

We set out for a sunset cruise of Pictured Rocks National Park

Miner's Castle and the lookout point

The scenery changes everyday as rocks fall away from the wall

Beautiful

See the pirates face?

The captain steers us into a cave....

This is what our boat just came through

Our boat went all the way in...

Looks like a battleship

Waterfalls dumping into Lake Superior

A smalller tour boat enters the cave

Just another day in paradise!

A storm coming that later packs a wallop!

  1. Munising was a great little town on Lake Superior. We were there for the 4th of July, and went on a sunset cruise to see Pictured Rocks National Park. While we were out, a storm came in, and as we headed back to shore, we saw lightening like you wouldn't believe! And then the rain came...the whole town of Munising had to go home without a fireworks show! Walt and I rode the Harley back to the rv park in the pouring rain, missed our turn-off,and didn't get back until midnight, soaked to the skin!

  2. Wow! Getting caught up on all your adventures since you left South Dakota has been quite an adventure for me too. I enjoyed all the pictures and the storytelling you put with it. It's wonderful that you are sharing your amazing journey this way.
